Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich with Sambal Aioli

Okay so this is not your traditional shrimp po' boy, it's more like a fried shrimp sandwich with our spicy sambal aioli but everybody refers to fried shrimp sandwiches on a bread roll as "po' boy's"...so we'll change it up and call it a Wozz! po' boy!

Traditionally, a shrimp po'boy is a Louisiana cajun style fried shrimp sandwich and it's served with a remoulade sauce (usually a combination of horseradish, mayonnaise, mustard, hot sauce, pickles or relish, garlic, etc.)  but we put a little Asian twist on this po' boy classic.  We simply took our Super Hot Chili Sambal and mixed it with mayonnaise.   Watch out, it's nice and spicy and just how we like it!  Anyway the whole point to what we do here at Wozz! is to make your life easier by giving you great recipes that are easy and hassle free.  Why mix up 10 ingredients to make a sauce when you can mix up 2 and make a sauce that is just as delicious?  So here is the Wozz! version of a fried shrimp po'boy sandwich.

Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwich with Sambal Aioli Ingredients:

1 lb raw shrimp (26 - 30 count is what I used because I wanted the a little big but you can use a little bit smaller shrimp if you prefer)
3 eggs beaten
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp paprika
2 cups panko bread crumbs
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp pepper
Vegetable oil for frying
Wozz! Super Hot Chili Sambal
1/3 Cup Mayonnaise
Iceburg lettuce shredded
Fresh Tomatoes sliced thinly
4 6 inch hoagie rolls
butter

To Make your Fried Shrimp:

Thaw out your shrimp, by running cool water over them (if they are frozen).  Peel and de vein shrimp.  Pat dry.
In a medium to large bowl, add shrimp and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Prepare your dredging station.  In one bowl combine your flour and paprika, in another bowl your beaten eggs and in the third bowl your panko bread crumbs.
Add vegetable oil to a deep skillet or pot, heat to 350 degrees, fry shrimp in batches of 5-6 at a time for approximately 1 minute or so, until golden brown, remove with slotted spoon and place on paper towel.

To make Super Hot Chili Aioli:

Mix mayonnaise with Wozz! Super Hot Chili Sambal.  I used 1 tablespoon for 1/3 cup mayonnaise, but adjust amount of super hot chili sambal to your liking.

To Make Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich:

Preheat oven broiler.  Split your rolls with knive, cut out just a bit of center bread, butter inside of rolls and place under broiler for a minute or so.  You can also cut your rolls in half and toast each side in a skillet if you prefer.
Add shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, fried shrimp and top with super hot chili aioli.

Serve with lemon wedges.
