Cranberry Sage Whiskey Sour
This whiskey sour with a cranberry sage simple syrup is the perfect cocktail as we head into late October. Something about the combination of bourbon, cranberry and earthy sage resonates well with lighting a fire and cozying up with a good movie.
Cranberry Sage Whiskey Sour (makes 1 cocktail)
Ingredients:
1.5 ounces Bourbon Whiskey (Maker's Mark)
1 ounce Cranberry Sage Simple Syrup (made with 1/2 cup Wozz! Cranberry Saffron Vinegar and Cocktail Mixer and 4-5 fresh sage leaves)
1 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
Ice
Fresh Sage Leaves for garnish
Method:
Make Cranberry Sage Simple Syrup:
In a small saucepan on stovetop, add 1/2 cup Wozz! Cranberry Saffron Vinegar along with 4-5 fresh sage leaves. Turn heat onto low, once cranberry vinegar is warm, turn heat off and let sage leaves seep in vinegar for 20 minutes. Remove sage leaves from your cranberry simple syrup and transfer cranberry syrup into a small glass. (1/2 cup of cranberry sage simple syrup will be enough for approximately 3-4 cocktails).
Make Your Cocktail
In a cocktail shaker, add ice, 1.5 ounce bourbon whiskey, 1 ounce lemon juice and 1 ounce cranberry sage simple syrup. Shake and strain over ice in an old fashioned glass. Garnish with a spring of fresh sage.
