Sweet Chili Wings with Orange and Sesame

These wings are baked, not fried but you still end up with a crispy coating without the hassle of hot oil.  This is a great simple coating for wings that gets great results every time and is still wonderful if you want to remove some of the spices or you want to add a few extras of your own.  If grilling your wings omit the flour and toss them in the spices only.

Once the wings are done cooking, we toss them in our Sweet Chili Orange Sesame Sauce and the flavor is incredible!  Sweet and sticky from the sweet chili, tangy and citrusy from the orange, toasty from the sesame and a little spicy finish from the chili.  What else could you possibly want in a wing sauce? {move over Buffalo} This is a great wing recipe for game day or entertaining.

Sweet Chili Wings with Orange and Sesame

Ingredients:

12 small wingettes (1.5 lb)
1/4 cup Wozz! Sweet Chili Orange Sesame Sauce

1/3 Flour (plain)

1Tbsp Paprika
1 tsp Garlic powder
1 tsp Ginger powder
1 tsp Onion powder

1tsp salt
1tsp pepper
1/2 tsp dried mint (optional)

1 Tbsp butter (for baking)

Garnish (optional)

Citrus Slices (dehydrated)
Sliced fresh red chili
Sliced spring onion
Sesame Seeds (toasted)

Method:

1. Preheat Oven To 425 degrees F. (bake)

2.  Mix Your Seasonings and Dredge

Mix all seasoning ingredients with the flour until well combined (omit flour if grilling your wings). Dredge your wings in flour seasoning ensuring evenly coated.

3.  Cook Your Wings

Evenly space wings on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. (if grilling your wings, season and grill your wings for 4-6 minutes each side and continue with steps below)

Put a few little knobs of butter in-between the wings.

Cook for 30 minutes at 425 F

Turn wings over and bake for another 15 minutes or until cooked. (if grilling skip this step)

Extra Tip* (if your Wozz! sauces is refrigerated, warm through a little on the stove top or microwave so it doesn't chill your wings)

In a large bowl toss Wozz! Sweet Chili Sauce with wings until evenly coated. Add garnish.  Serve.

Finish with an extra drizzle of Wozz! Sweet Chili Orange Sesame Sauce if desired.

How To Make Dehydrated Citrus Slices (optional)

I used lime and blood orange in the photo, but lemons and grapefruit will work too.

Method:

1. Preheat oven 350 degrees F

2. Slices citrus as thinly as possible, about 1/8 inch thick.  Arrange on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

3. Put a pinch of white sugar on each slice, turn slices and repeat.

4. Bake at 350 F for 3-5 minutes, turn and continue for another 2-3 minutes.

These can be made ahead of time and are wonderful in salads, cocktails, granola or even as a snack.  They add a little extra "pretty" to your dishes. :)
