This Sour Cherry Spiced Wine Compote is perfect for a romantic dinner or when celebrating a special occasion such as Valentine's day.  Cherries are simmered in a red wine reduction sauce with balsamic and aromatic spices.  A fantastic accoutrement to a cheese plate, baked brie or charcuterie board with cured meats, foie gras or paté.  For an upscale dinner idea, add this cherry jam to a butter pan sauce and spoon over roasted duck or pork tenderloin.
